Optomechanical Self-Stability of Freestanding Photonic Metasurfaces

We develop an analytical framework for self-stabilizing optical manipulation of freestanding metasurfaces in three dimensions. Our reveals that the challenging problem stabilization against translational and rotational perturbations dimensions is reduced to a simpler scattering analysis metasurface unit cell two derive universal stiffness coefficients applicable arbitrary three-dimensional radial beam-intensity profiles. The nature our facilitates highly efficient discovery optimal optomechanical metasurfaces. Such use mechanical enables macroscale long-range control collimated, but otherwise unfocused light beams, could open up avenues beyond traditional tweezing transport.
